Untitled Jane Austen Musical – The work is a satirical short piece that uses re-written Disney compositions to analyze Austen’s writings and the academics who critique them. It’s silly project developed with Samantha Laskin and Elizabeth La Rosa for our senior English seminar on Jane Austen.
Boxes – A piece of short-fiction-turned-short-film, about a young adult who must face his abusive, estranged, and Parkinson’s-wridden grandfather, in a twist on the normal father-son storyline. This work won the Muhlenberg Creative Writing Award for First Place in Prose in April 2018. This was originally written for an Advanced Fiction course, and re-written in a pre-production course.
Walter Goes West – A continuation to the short story Boxes, in which the characters go on a road trip. This was presented at the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society Conference in March 2018, where I won Third Place in Prose. Also written for Advanced Fiction.
Celandine – A feature length dark-comedy film about a dysfunctional family coming together to save their matriarch’s wedding business upon discovery of her secret: that she’s declining from early-onset dementia. I workshopped two scenes, directing professional actors as part of final presentation for my Feature Screenwriting course at FAMU in December 2016.
Masqued – In this play, a young woman in 19th century England is consumed by a desire for revenge after the murder of her family. I directed a sample of it with Actor’s Equity performers for a Theater Development Fund’s Summer Playwriting Institute showcase in July 2014.
